Statistical Population and its types | statistics and probability.

Statistical Population:

A statistical population is any group of individuals who are the subject of a study, meaning that almost anything can make up a population so long as the individuals can be grouped together by a common feature, or sometimes two common features.

Types of statistical population

There are some following types :

i - Finite population

If the number of objects or units in the population is countable then it is a finite population.

E.g number of houses in Attock, number of universities in Pakistan/Punjab, etc.

ii - Real population

The real population consists of units that physically exist.

E.g: students, items produced by the company.

iii - Hypothetical Population

A hypothetical population consists of units that physically do not exist but are the outcome of a random experiment.

E.g:

The population of all possible outcomes of a lab experiment.

iv - Infinite Population

If the number of objects or units in a population is infinite, it is said to be an infinite Population.

E.g: no of start in sky forms infinite Population.

v - Target Population

A finite or infinite Population about which we require information is called the target population.

E.g: Information of old students of cs department of Cui atk.

vi - Sampled and study population

This is a basic finite set of individuals we intend to study.

E.g: All 18-year-old students of the cs department of Cui whose permanent address is in Attock city.
